Cash Drawer: Features, Troubleshooting, and Care Instructions

The APG VB320-1-BL1616 is a standard cash drawer with a bill/coin till. It opens automatically when a sale calls for it.

Basics

  • The drawer connects to the receipt printer with a cable and opens when the printer tells it to - the terminal doesn't drive the drawer directly.

  • It has a manual key lock on the front for opening or securing the drawer by hand.

  • Inside is a removable till for bills and coins.

Opening the drawer

  • Automatically: the drawer pops open during a sale that requires it (for example, a cash payment).

  • By hand: use the physical key to unlock and open it.

Basic troubleshooting

Issue

What to try

Drawer won't open during a sale

The drawer opens through the printer, so run a Test Print first - if the printer isn't working, the drawer won't open.

Printer works but drawer still won't open

Check the cable between the printer and the drawer is firmly seated at both ends.

Drawer won't open at all

Try the manual key. If it opens by key but not automatically, it's likely the cable or printer - see above.

Drawer won't close / stays stuck

Make sure nothing (bills, coins, receipts) is jamming the track, and that the till is seated correctly.

Care

  • Keep the key in a secure place; you'll need it to open the drawer manually.

  • Empty and clean the till periodically; remove any debris from the drawer track.

If the drawer won't open even with a working printer and a firmly connected cable, use Create a Support Ticket or contact us.
